Justin's Snowplow Bike....

Justin has been working up a storm on his inventions.  His first one is a snowplow that attaches to his bike.  He has been thinking/talking about it for a while and today we decided to get some cardboard out and make some 'prototypes' to see which designs work and which ones fail.  I expected him to either tire of the project or get frustrated and give up.  Nope.  He actually made a working prototype.

Now he's jonesing for a workshop and tools of his own.  I'll have to get a list together for upcoming birthday presents!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Isn't it YOUR birthday dream to get to wash your dog?  After our camping trip, Miss Kolachi was in dire need of a scrub-down.  Always game for a new adventure, Dave donned a wash apron and jumped right in.  What a great guy!

Alex made him a birthday cake as a 'thank you' AND a 'we love you'!

Then it was time to make some Midsummer Eve fairy houses before bed.

It's finally Kitten Day!  We got to go and pick up our babies and bring them home-  They traveled very well together-- only a few little mews here and there.
Alex holds Ingeborg.

Inga ventured out first and looked around for a while before her brother, Carl, joined her.  She's definitely the braver of the two kitties.

Just what he wanted for his birthday present-- an armful of kitties.

Welcome home, Babies!  They'll be staying in the classroom for a few weeks so we can SLOWLY introduce them to the rest of this crazy menagerie.  They are so sweet and start purring as soon as you make eye contact with them!

Birthday Camping Surprise!

The kids and I wanted to do something special and unexpected to surprise Daddy for his birthday this year, so we organized a 'secret' camping trip!  We booked a site at Beaver Creek Valley State Park and it was beautiful!  We only ended up staying one of our two nights (the kittens are coming home on MONDAY and we really felt we needed to make sure everything was in order!).  Everyone had a great time, though-- Kolachi was a pro camper, the kids both slept in the screen tent on their cots!  So much fun--

Splashing in the cold, cold creek!

Alex was in charge of meal planning and prep for Dinner #1.

Kolachi always feels right at home when her crate is there.  I heart crate training!

Justin Presley

Inspired by their recent concert-going experience, Justin and Alex put together a production of "Justin Presley" singing his favorite covers of Elvis songs.  It even included a spotlight (manned by Alex) a 'microphone' made from a carpet sweeper and tickets.  There was a meet and greet after the show and I was able to snag an autograph!!!

Bridal Shower

Alex, Kolachi, GranMama and I worked really hard to get Auntie Rorie's bridal shower all set up.  What a fun day celebrating a wonderful young woman :-)  We went with a Korean flower garden theme to honor Rorie's birth culture and reflect our early summer atmosphere.  A fun afternoon with a great group of women.

Enjoy the photos-
