Dec 20: Wrapping Christmas Gifts
While this isn't the most exciting of Advent activities-- the kids did a fantastic job helping to wrap our family presents.
Working together to seal the paper was trickier than it sounds. Especially when scotch tape is so sticky!
We used a bunch of chromatography (color separation) projects as gift tags/ornaments. We picked up this little idea at the MN Science Museum- they often have a chromatography station where kids draw a circle with a water-soluble marker on a coffee filter or paper towel. Then, using the eraser end of a pencil, they place drops of water in the middle of the circle. The colors separate, so you can see what goes into making the original marker dye. Pretty cool! My kids were totally inspired the last visit and went into production mode them moment they came home. I saved all their circles and we covered them with contact paper before cutting them out and writing people's names on them.
Justin weilds the grown-up scissors very carefully!
