Fall Canning

 Besides go to the doctor (and eat frozen yogurt) yesterday, the kids and I worked hard all day.  We canned butternut squash in chicken stock (as a soup starter... just puree, heat, doctor and serve), tomatillo salsa and finally my crabapple jelly.

I love how I don't have to ask for help-- they are ready and willing to dive in (because it's just 'what we do', and kids are always willing to do real work!).  If they're not feeling it, or are, say, almost two years old and lose interest, they find something else to do.  No biggie!  (Like assemble and take apart a salad spiner).
But we get it done :-)
