Raspberries

GranMama and GranPapa are up for the weekend, to bring up a few more 'straggling' boxes to Auntie Rorie at school. Alex wishes every morning could start with storytime with GranPapa. After Church, we all headed to the Carpenter Nature Center to pick some raspberries! Unfortunately, the crop was on its last legs (apparently it was a really early season this year), so we only got one pint-- but Alex still had a lot of fun picking the ripest, most perfect berried.

The Nature Center visit requires a stop at Razzle's hutch. Alexandra was so excited to introduce GranMama to her 'friend' and teach her how to pick clover to feed him.

Our bounty. I made a fresh raspberry and peach compote for our french toast the next morning, and we enjoyed the rest of the berries on ice cream for dessert Monday night. The Nature Center also has an apple orchard, and we brought home some unbelievably sweet crabapples (pictured in the silver bowl). Alex has been requesting the "Munchkin Apples" for snacks all day long!
