Technically, this is one Advent activity that will move around on future calendars, but for this year it fell the 12th!
Taking the advice of some of my Mommy friends, we made an appointment to see Santa at the Mall of America this year. Yep- you read that right, we made an appointment! It was actually the best Santa experience I've ever had-- as a kid OR a mom!
If you remember Alex's traumatic experience last year (click here to relive the ordeal), we were looking for a calm, enjoyable trip this time around. The Santa Experience was well worth it. For roughly the same price as any other mall Santa (we paid $14.95 for a 5 x 7 photo), Alex only had to wait in line for 15 minutes....during which Santa only saw 3 other kids! He took a full 5-6 minutes with each child, and talked with them, played on the floor, played hand-slapping games, you name it! Alex was so comfortable from just watching the other kids go that she charged right up to him yourself. (Dave has the whole visit on video).
While we didn't get a beaming smile, this portrait is much more 'Alex'- for those of you who know her well, she is a bit serious anyway!
After Santa Experience, Dave treated us to dinner at Bubba Gump's, and then we walked around, did a bit of Christmas shopping and hit Underwater Adventures before it was time to go. All in all, a very successful trip!
