Orienteering 101

We started out the day reading stories at the breakfast table with GrandMama, followed by a visit to a local Lutheran Church (where Alex loudly proclaimed she "all done-- Alex go home" from ten minutes in until the end).
After a much-needed nap, we headed to Afton State Park for a nature walk. Alexandra walked for a great deal of the flat trail, but she rode in the backpack for the steeps. She requested Uncle Willy to be the pack mule, and was so impressed with his walking cadence that she fell asleep in the pack (see the video).
We worked on orienteering and map-reading skills throughout the hike, and to supplement Uncle Willy annotated a map that Alex can use to remember the events of the day.
